The people of Sokatsi-korpe a suburb of Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region led by the Regent, Sokatsi Adawu III, are in a state of shock as they woke to the news that, the body of a woman buried on Thursday, March 8, 2018, has been ‘stolen’ by unknown persons at dawn.
A visit by the Chief, the Assemblyman for the area and some elders to the graveside of the woman revealed the breaking of the grave and body taken out except pieces of woods used in making the coffin.
According to a local Journalist, Dodzi Deku, who works with Light FM at Denu….“this tragedy happened on Friday morning when the Family went to the burial ground to perform some rituals in accordance with their traditions”, to conclude the funeral rites which started the previous day.
The missing body of Patience Afealete 27, which was buried at an isolated area near the family cemetery at Sokatsi-korpe in The Sonuto/Kumade-korpe Electoral Area has attracted the attention of the community folks to the scene with many attributing the strange act to people believed to be involved in the use of Africa Powers’ (Dzo-sa-sa).
A family member, Diana Nane, told ghananewsonline.com.gh that they believed Patience Afealete did not die a natural death. She died through drowning at a town near Tongor-Dzemeni.
“My sister died in a river when the Boat capsized at Bruben in the Afram Plains District.
We buried her on Thursday 8th March 2018, around 5pm at the Sokatsi-korpe, only to hear on Friday morning that the body is not in the grave, she stated.
She said “we are even speechless about the whole thing, we are pleading with the police to help us arrest the person or persons behind this act.”
The Assemblyman for Sonuto/Kemade-korpe Electoral Area, Richard K. Vinyo in a telephone interview with this reporter said it was a very sad moment for the family and the entire community at large.
He stated that, the matter has been reported to the Agbozume Police for investigations.
He appealed to his people to assist the Police by giving out information that will lead to any arrest.
At the time of filing this story, Regent Sokatsi Adawu III, confirmed that the Police were yet to effect any arrest.
