The Member of Parliament for the Wa Central constituency, Hon. Rashid Pelpuo has been honored for his contribution to humanity at the International Humanity Conference held at the Common Wealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon.
The event which was held over the weekend on Saturday, the 28th of September 2018, was aimed at widening the discussion and evaluating the contributions of poetry, arts and culture across continents to the development of humanity. The occasion was also used to award some dignitaries who had affected humanity with their work.
The Ghanaian legislator who was recognized for his works in poetry by a fraternity of publishers and poetry writers across the world, was presented with a plaque, a citation, two medallions and a ceremonial attire from India as well as a golden pen.
He was honored among a group of other dignitaries who are deemed to have affected the world and contributed to humanity with their writings which speak to the aspirations and plight of the under trodden in society.
His book entitled, “The True Meaning of Life” had been recognized as one of the powerful peace of writings which touches on the core of humanity. It is a collection of his poems he has written over the years to lift himself, people and nations up from whatever obstacles that may have befallen them.
The former Minister of State under the erstwhile John Mahama led NDC administration, Rashid Pelpuo, was a leading contributor in poetry for his school magazine, the Phoebus, and has since kept faith in communicating his thoughts through his poems.
The law maker was also presented with copies of a translated version of his own book, “The True Meaning of Life” which had been translated into an Indian language by an Indian Heart Surgeon and a lover of poetry and the arts, Dr. Prasad. The translated version of the book was latter launched at the conference.
He was decorated with a traditional cloth and a native traditional attire from India as a sign of respect and honour for his work.
Still in honour of his hard work and dedication to humanity, the world acclaimed father of visual poetry and Publisher of the PENTASI B books, Doc. Penpen also awarded Rashid Pelpuo with two medallions made of one of the rarest stones from volcanic eruptions in the Philippines.
In acknowledgement of the awards and the recognition that had been extended to him, Rashid Pelpuo, urged the youth to emulate him by taking up to writing in their spare time and never compromise on hard work.
The International Humanity Conference which was under the theme: The Role of Global Partnership in achieving the sustainable Development Goals for a free world and a sustenance of Human Dignity, drew participants from different parts of the world including Indian, Philippines, the Republic of Iran, Syria, Egypt and Nigeria among others.
