The number of candidates seeking to lift the flag of the largest opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the 2020 general elections has increased to twelve with Hon. David Dotsey Kwami Kuwadah from Hedzranawo in the Volta region as the latest addition to the party’s internal contest.
At a press conference held at the SSNIT Guest House in Accra on Monday, the 1st of October, 2018, the presidential candidate aspirant announced to the public, his preparedness to seek the mandate of members of the NDC party as the flagbearer and to lead them to victory in the 2020 presidential elections.
According to him, his call to the flagbeareship contest was divinely inspired by God through an angel who has impressed upon him to come and deliver the people of Ghana from hardship and to change the old order of corruption and monitization of the political landscape.
He believes he is the modern day David who is inspired by God to defeat the Biblical Goliath of our time, decapitate him and finally redeem the people of God from the hardships the country is undergoing under the present dispensation.
“David Dotsey Kwami Kuwadah, being president of Ghana on the ticket of the NDC come 2020, will place God and Ghana first in everything that we will do as government. The wisdom of God will be used to steer the affairs of the country. As you all know, the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God.” He indicated.
Hon. Kwami Kuwadah, who is currently the Communications officer for the NDC at the Hedzranawo RC Mission B branch and the immediate past Assembly Member of the Hedzranawo electoral area in the Volta region, said he was going to lead and operate a Civil Democratic Revolution that will clear out all the mess and wipe out corruption which he considers to be the worst enemy of development in the country.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the Press, I am seeking to lead the NDC because, I strongly believe in equality. Our 1992 constitution states that, every Ghanaian is equal before the law, but you will agree with me that, that is the opposite of the reality and not practical under our current political dispensation.” He indicated.
Outlining his vision for the country after his government takes over the reins of the country in January 2021, Hon. Kwami Kuwadah said, “My government shall also run an effective Agriculture system, not just to produce for consumption but to put an end to most of the things that we import here locally. My government will also expand the production of all that we grow locally so that we can also have an excess and glut to also extend into exports.”
The largest political party in opposition in the country is preparing to hold its national delegates conference later this year to elect its flag bearer for the 2020 general elections after its poor showing at the last elections close to two years ago under the leadership of the immediate past President John Dramani Mahama.
Even though the Former President has declared his intention to seek the mandate of his party to contest the elections again in 2020, an unprecedented number of people from his party have also shown interest in contesting him for the flagbearership position. Most of whom have been his own appointees in his government just a little under two years ago.
While some of the party members believe that the former president is the best bet against the ruling NPP in the upcoming general elections in 2020, others think that the humiliating defeat he suffered in the last elections with a margin of about 1 million votes difference even as the then sitting president, is proof that the NDC needs a new candidate if it wants to wrestle power from the present administration.
